Since its inception in 1908, Upper Peninsula Telephone Company (UPTC) has undergone several transformations, culminating in its integration into MachTen Inc. in 2023. MachTen is the publicly traded holding company for Michigan Broadband, whose subsidiaries include Upper Peninsula Telephone Company, Michigan Central Broadband Company, and Alpha Enterprises Ltd.
Together we offer expertise in every aspect of telecommunications and provide cutting-edge technology including high speed internet, voice, video, mobile, home automation and managed hosting.
Serving 19 local exchanges across Michigan, UPTC provides broadband and telephone services, covering approximately 3,500 square miles of territory with over 700 miles of fiber optic interconnections. Our expansion efforts extend beyond traditional markets, with a focus on fiber deployment to commercial customers and high-capacity network connections.
